1849 California Gold Rush comes alive at EW PDF Print E-mail

After learning about western expansion the culminating event was a re-enactment of many activities that people of that era participated in such as  roping cattle, washing clothes in an old washboard,  square dancing, sketching wild life and writing with quill pens.

The most exciting activity of course was panning for gold.
After mining their claims, 49ers had to weigh their gold to cash in to buy necessities and treats at the general store (the most popular place besides the water).
