A Paoli man was killed in an accident that took place of early Sunday afternoon.
Ricky Cole, 53, Paoli,  was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to a press release issued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, the accident took place at 2:38 p.m. on State Road 56 at the intersection of State Road 39.
The report said two motorcycles were stopped in the west-bound lane on 56 East waiting to turn left at the intersection of State Road 39.
According to the report, a 1996 Subaru driven by Ashley Ranson, 24, of Salem was traveling west bound when her vehicle struck the two motorcycles from the rear, ejecting both drivers.
In addition to Cole, the other motorcycle driver, Terry Miller, 55, Glasgow, Ky., was flown from the scene to the University of Louisville Hospital.
The crash is still being investigated.
