A 20-year-old man has been charged in Scott Circuit Court with two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor.
According to the probable cause affidavit prepared by Lt./Detective Mike Nichols with the Scottsburg Police Department, the suspect, Dylan E. Blankenbaker, he had talked and texted with the 14-year-old girl. They reportedly made arrangements on the night of January 24 to meet in a shed in back of the girl’s house.
Blankenbaker said he left quickly after the two had had intercourse. The girl’s mother said she caught her daughter coming into the house around 5 a.m. She told Lt. Nichols that she found a condom wrapper in the shed. Blankenbaker has pleaded not guilty to the two Class C felony charges. His jury trial is scheduled August 26. The defendant was released from jail after filing a cash bond of $4,000. A “no contact” order was issued by the court to prevent the man from talking or contacting the girl and her family.
