A Seymour woman was injured in a crash on Monday afternoon, March 4, near the Dairy Queen in Austin on U.S. Highway 31 North.
Nicole R. Newman, 29, suffered abdominal/pelvic pain when her 1998 Nissan Altima struck the side of a pickup truck driven by Dan Mullins, 39, Austin. Capt. Paul Clute of the Austin Police Department was dispatched to the scene on U.S. 31 just north of the popular Dairy Queen. He took statements from both drivers. Newman said she was traveling south on U.S. 31 when the 1994 Chevy pickup pulled out from Factory Drive in front of her. She attempted to stop by applying her brakes but could not avoid the collision.
Mullins told the officer that he had been attempting to cross all four traffic lanes and did not see the oncoming car. Newman’s condition was not available. Capt. Clute estimated property damage at up to $10,000.
