Those Veterans located in the Southern Indiana area (within 20 to 30 minute drive of Clark and Floyd County) interested and qualified in joining a Chapter of the  Disabled American Veterans are asked to call 606-224-5096 and speak with Senior Vice Commander James “Rick” Phillps.
This Disabled American Veterans Chapter will be located somewhere within the Clark/ Floyd County areas. Membership is open to anyone wounded, injured or disabled during honorable wartime service. Please refer to the following for dates of active service that are considered during “time of war”: World War I- April 6, 1917 through July 2, 1921; World War II & Korea- September 16, 1940 through January 31, 1955; Vietnam & other engagements- January 31, 1955 through October 14, 1976; Iran Crisis, Lebanon Crisis, Invasion of Grenada, Invasion of Panama and other engagements- November 4, 1979 through January 31, 1990; Persian Gulf Crisis, and subsequent engagements- August 2, 1990- until terminated by Presidential Proclamation or Congressional resolution. In addition, there are circumstances under which veterans, who served at other times, can meet the requirements, “during time of war” or “wartime service”. This occurs when review of official military/VA records shows that the applicant’s wound, injury or disability was incurred: as a direct result of armed conflict or while engaged in extra-hazardous service under conditions simulating war or while the US was engaged in any war or receipt or award of an expeditionary or campaign medal.
