Girls’ basketball season comes to an end for local teams PDF Print E-mail

Two county girls’ basketball teams made it to the championship game in their respective sectionals but both came up short.

West Washington lost a double over-time thriller, 72-66, to Trinity Lutheran in the Springs Valley Class A Sectional Saturday.
Eastern lost 57-38 to the host Lady Rams in Saturday’s 2a Sectional final at Paoli.
Salem lost, 71-42, in the opening round of the sectional on Feb. 6 in the Class 3A Sectional at Scottsburg.
The Warriorettes took control of the game in the opening quarter with an 18-2 run and never looked back.
Salem, which finished the season with a 7-14 record, was paced by Brittney Walker with 14 points and Treasure Hurst added 10.
Eastern finished the season with a 10-13 record and West Washington posted their first winnings season, 12-10, since the 2000-2001 season.
