Silver Creek Middle School wins tournament PDF Print E-mail

The Silver Creek eighth-grade girls’ basketball team claimed the Clark-Floyd County championship by beating Highland Hills 34-14.

The game started as a defensive thriller with neither team finding the bucket.
The Lady Dragons, did manage a two from Haley Baxter, but that was all the scoring in the opening period.
Things didn’t get much better in the second, at least not for the Lady Jaguars.
Highland Hills managed just four points by Carmen Cox.
Silver Creek’s offense woke up as they outscored HHMS 10-4 to take a 12-4 lead into halftime.
The Lady Dragons continue to build on their lead in the third quarter and Highland Hills never seriously threatened.
SCMS was led in scoring by Samantha Teegarden with 11 points and Baxter scored seven.
Seven Lady Dragons in all found their way into the scoring column.
Maddy Weber and Cox scored six points each for the Lady Jags.
