The Salem Community School Board was expected to name Hank Weedin new high school athletic director at their regular meeting Monday.
One of Weedin’s first tasks as new AD will be to hire a new girls’ basketball coach to replace Laura Motsinger.
Motsinger resigned late last week, sighting several reasons in an e-mail she sent to current high school AD Mo Moriarity.
In the letter, Motsinger thanked the board for the opportunity to  serve as head coach for the past four seasons.
In those four seasons, Motsinger posted a 43-43 record including this year’s 7-14 record.
The season ended in last week’s 3A sectional where the Lady Lions were over-powered, 71-42 by Scottsburg.
