A situation turned tense last Thursday when police had a stand-off with a local teen.
Washington County Sheriff Claude Combs said the situation ended with a scuffle, but no one was seriously injured.
The suspect is a juvinle and will be charged as such, according to Washington County Prosecutor Dustin Houchin.
Houchin said he doesn’t meet any of the criteria to be charged as an adult.
Combs said the situation started when his department got a call to go to Canton after a 16-year-old attacked his brother with a club of some kind.
“He threatened his family and was on foot with two large knives,” Combs said.
Combs said his department, as well as members of the Indiana State Police and members of the Salem Police Department responded.
“We finally coraled him and got him caught in a field fairly close to house,” Combs said. “We had to subdue him. He finally put the knives down. He resisted law enforcement.”
