On Sunday, November 18, 2012, the Indiana Association of School Principals (IASP) recognized Tom Cullen, Assistant Principal at East Washington High School, as the 2012 State Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year.
He was also named District Secondary Assistant Principal of District 12, located in southwest Indiana. District 12 is made up of Clark, Crawford, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Ohio, Orange, Scott, Switzerland and Washington Counties.
Cullen said he was surprised and honored when he learned of his selection.
East Washington Middle School Principal Linda Luedeman said Cullen deserves the recognition.
“Mr. Cullen is totally dedicated to East Washington,” she said. “He is a true-blue individual and we love having him. Sometimes he does a thankless job, but he takes pride in it and does his best every single day. His hard work has paid off with the recognition. His award is not just amoung middle school assistant principals, but high school principals, as well.
The recognition ceremony is a part of the 2012 Assistant Principals of the Year Recognition Celebration, a part of IASP’s annual Assistant Principal’s Conference. The award will be presented at a luncheon at the Indianapolis Marriott with the 2011 State Assistant Principal of the Year, Steve Satterly, Jr. presiding along with IASP Executive Director, Todd Bess and IASP President, Tom Mellish.
District Assistant Principals of the Year are elected by their peers. One principal is honored from each of the 12 districts. From these 12 District Secondary Assistant Principal winners, one will be announced as the 2012 State Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year at the luncheon.
The Indiana Association of School Principals is a not-for-profit, professional association serving over 2000 building level administrators in the state of Indiana. Tom will be considered for the 2013 National Association of Secondary School Principals National Assistant Principal of the Year, sponsored by VIRCO, Inc.
