Self-inflicted gunshot wound kills Madison teenager on Nov. 27 PDF Print E-mail

A mass of Christian burial was conducted at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Madison on Saturday, December 1, for Katelyn Nicole Bruner, 17, Madison.


The teenager’s lifeless body was found at her grandparents’ property on Tuesday, November 27.
Jefferson County deputies responded to the report of a dead person at 5479 State Road 256 West, which was telephoned in at 8:46 a.m. on November 27. According to preliminary findings, the 17-year-old died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to her chest.
Officers found the girl behind an outbuilding on property owned by her grandparents. According to Sheriff John Wallace, the teenager had often stayed with her grandparents.
ISP crime scene technicians and detectives and the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office helped the Sheriff’s Department with the investigation.
The body was transported to the Kentucky Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy which was performed on Wednesday, November 28.
The teenager was survived by her parents, a sister, maternal grandparents and maternal great-grandmothers.
Burial was in Saint Patrick Cemetery in Madison.
