Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a tree stand accident that occurred in Harrison County this morning. 
At approximately 9:45 a.m., conservation officers and EMS personnel responded to the 3100 block of German Ridge Road, outside of Corydon.  The accident occurred in a heavily wooded area on private property.  
The victim, Randall Edwards Jr. (37) of Memphis, IN, fell approximately 20 feet from a tree stand while deer hunting.  Edwards was not wearing a safety harness, and slipped as he neared the top of his elevated ladder stand.  He sustained multiple fractures and lower back injuries during the fall.  He did manage to call for help, as he had his cell phone with him.  Edwards was transported to University of Louisville Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Tree stand falls are the leading cause of injury occurring to Indiana hunters annually. Indiana Conservation Officers strongly encourage hunters to always utilize a safety harness when hunting from a tree stand.
