Two people were killed and others were injured in an accident that took place shortly after 6:30 a.m. Wednesday morning on State Road 60 just past Deam Lake Road.
The preliminary investigation reveals a 2002 Chevrolet Impala, which was driven by Angela K Berkley, 24, from Bullitt County, Ky., was travelling west bound on State Road 60 and for an unknown reason the vehicle crossed the center line.
After crossing the center line the Chevrolet struck a 1995 Land Rover travelling east bound, causing minimal damage to the Land Rover. After striking the Land Rover the Chevrolet Impala continued travelling west bound and approximately 300 feet later, struck a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck travelling east bound.
Berkley was wearing a seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were two passengers in the Chevrolet Impala, a front seat passenger, Jason Orme, 33, of Corydon, IN, he was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY via air ambulance with serious injuries. He was wearing a seat belt. A rear seat passenger, Curtis L. Heckel, 24, from Louisville, KY, was also transported to the University of Louisville Hospital via air ambulance and later pronounced dead. He was not wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Land Rover, George Napier, 38, from Charlestown, IN, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt. The driver of the 2002 Ford pickup truck, William Piper, 29, of Salem, IN, was transported to the University of Louisville Hospital via air ambulance with serious injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt.
