A September tradition in Southern Indiana has become the annual Pal-Pow festival held at Buffalo Trace Park.
This year’s event will be Sept. 15 and includes a full slate of events and activities.
One of the event organizers, Doug Rothrock, said each year the group learns something new every year and are always trying to make Pal-Wow as good as it can be.
“We learned last year that the location of the craft booths the first year was in a much better location,” Rothrock said, “so they are being moved back to their original location. The games will be much more visible this year and we are adding a few.”
The headline band this year is ‘rumors.’
“We are very excited about their performance,” said Rothrock, who is just one of the 20 or more people who help to make the event go each year.
They will begin performing around 5:45 and continue until the fireworks over the lake at 8:45.
The following is a list of the days events.
Registration for the car show is 8:00 AM until noon.
The crafts, food booths and games will be setting up in the morning and will be running for the noon lunch crowd.
Pal Wow Mobiles (Mules) will be running from 10:00 am until 7:00 to help with has many handicapped visitors as possible.
Various local bands will be performing throughout the day until the Community Choir takes center stage at about 4:45 PM followed by the ‘rumors.’
‘Traditional Ways Tae Kwon Do School’ will be giving their annual karate demonstration at approximately 4:00 PM.
The Car Show judging will be at 4:00 PM.
Fireworks by Casabella starts at 8:45 PM.
“A big thanks to ‘Traditional Ways Tae Kwon Do School’ for taking over the games this year,” Rothrock said. “I think they will do a great job. Also we want to thank the Palmyra Volunteer Fire Department for their help with the parking.”
