Organizers of Pigeon Roost Remembered Day scheduled for Saturday, September 8, are looking for a few really good story tellers. Liars, as a matter of fact. Ed Cozart, holder of the 2011 and 2012 Biggest Liar titles won at Indiana State Fair competitions, will conduct the September 8 Biggest Liar contest for both youth, ages up to 17, and adults, ages 18 and older. About the only rules are that the story told can be either an existing tale or fable or a fabrication of the teller’s imagination, and the presentation must be no longer than five minutes.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. on the front porch steps of the museum, located at 1050 South Main Street, Scottsburg. Winners of both age divisions will receive some nice trophies and, of course, bragging rights. Runners-up will receive museum t-shirts featuring its ghost logo.
Those interested in competing can contact the museum by calling 752-1050 and learning more about the Biggest Liar contest and other activities scheduled for Pigeon Roost Remembered Day, an observance of the 200th anniversary of the Pigeon Roost Massacre.
