The dates for this year’s Sellersburg Celebrates! weekend festival at the Silver Creek Township Park are August 23, 24, 25. The theme is “Hometown Heroes”.
Parade
During the recent tornado experienced in the local area, many “heroes” jumped to the aide of their fellow friends, family members, and neighbors. The planning committee would like to recognize all organizations involved in the aide to their fellow business, school, and community members during this time. Area Veterans, Police, and Fire Departments will be highlighted in the “Hometown Heroes” Parade, along with many community members who assisted during this very trying time. The parade is on Saturday, August 25 at 10 a.m.
Business Luncheon
The “Hometown Heroes” Business Luncheon will be Friday, August 24 at 11:30 a.m. at Rock Creek Academy. Stephanie Decker will be the guest speaker at the luncheon. Tickets are available for $20 at The New Washington State Bank, Ray’s Lawn and Garden (246-6309) or by contacting Susan Miller (523-0910).
Pancake Breakfast
The pancake breakfast, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, is always a fine start to all the Saturday activities, served from 7 to 10 a.m. It is located at the Police Department in downtown Sellersburg, and the cost is donation only.
Festival Rides, Booths
The Midway, with FIESTA RIDES, games, food, craft and informational booths, will be open to the public on Thursday and Friday evenings at 5 p.m. and Saturday at 12 noon. All three days, the Midway will close around 10 p.m. or when the entertainment at the “main stage” is over.
Petting Zoo
The “Hat Trick” Petting Zoo will be featured this year for children of all ages to feed the friendly exotic animals and ride the ponies.
Mock Crash
Thursday night, there will be a “mock” car crash with Air Methods enactment at the Silver Creek Township Park at 7 p.m. The Sellersburg Fire Department uses this demonstration as a teaching tool at area schools and it is very realistic.
Live Entertainment
Friday
Friday night, on the Main Stage at 7 p.m. are Josh & Holly.
Robert Shaw and his Country Music Band will play from 8 to 11 p.m. on the main stage.
Balloon Glow
There will be a balloon glow at dark Friday Night!

Black Friday- 1:15 to 2:15 p.m. on stage 2
Nocturnal Youth- 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. on stage 2

Under Construction- 5 to 6 p.m. on stage 2
Silver Creek High School Dance Team and Drake Dance Studio performing on the midway by information booth- 1 p.m.
Hi- Tops Band on the Main Stage at 7 p.m.
The Louisville Crashers are playing from 8 to 11 p.m. on the main stage
Dance Works from 1 to 2 p.m. on stage 3
Dog Show from 2 to 3 p.m. on stage 3
SIGS from 4 to 5 p.m. on stag 3
Bake-off
A bake off will be hosted by Sellersburg Celebrates! on Saturday, August 25. All entries need to be taken to Jackson Physical Therapy and Associates, Inc. between 10 a.m. and 12 noon on August 25. All entries must be picked up between 1 and 2 p.m. on August 25. Ribbons will be awarded to winners of each category. Jackson Physical Therapy and Associates, Inc. is located at 326 N. Indiana Avenue in Sellersburg.
The bake off will be divided into two divisions: Adult Category, age 13 and up and Children Category, age 12 and under. The categories for each division will be: Pies, Cakes/Cupcakes, Cookies/ Brownies and Breads.

Police K-9 Demonstration
A Police K-9 Demonstration will be held on Saturday, August 25 at one of the ballfields at Silver Creek Township Park. The demonstration featuring local K-9 units will be held at 5 p.m. This event is tentative due to weather conditions at the scheduled time of the demonstration.
SCHS Silver Stars to perform during Sellersburg Celebrates!
The Silver Creek High School Dance Team, known as the “Silver Stars,” will be performing on the midway at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 25. This team is made up of 10 girls, grades 9 to 12.
The team has been invited to perform in the Miami Orange Bowl on New Year’s Day.
Coach Sarah Drake is very excited about the possibility and several fundraisers have been planned for the team to reach its goal to pay for the very expensive trip.
The Silver Stars will have a booth at Sellersburg Celebrates! selling raffle tickets for various items. What an opportunity…help them recognize their dream!
Golf Scramble
Sunday, August 26, the Speed Golf Course will host the annual Sellersburg Celebrates! Golf Scramble. Tee time is 8 a.m. Call Mark or Joy Spencer for information at 812-246-9570.
