Michael McBride, the grandfather of Hayden Overton, the 2-year-old who was killed in an accident on Daisy Lane Road on Friday, August 3, 2012, said his family is hurting from the tragedy.
In fact, McBride said the only comfort they find in all of it is the fact that six other people who were in the Ford van were not seriously injured.
“It was a miracle no one else was injured,” he said. “There were so many miracles just within that van.”
According to Washington County Sheriff Claude Combs speed appears to have been a factor in the accident.
Combs said Elijah Michael Isaacs, 19, Blue River Church Rd., lost control of the Ford van he was driving on Dasiy Lane Road and the vehicle flipped several times.
Another toddler, Elijah (EJ) Isaacs, 1, was injured, but not seriously, and flown to University of Louisville Hospital by an air ambulance.
Other passengers in the vehicle were, Mariah Taylor of Richmond, Darian Graw of S. Blue River Church Road and Harley Graw (not Ashley, which was reported in the Aug. 8 issue of The Washington County Edition), also of S. Blue River Church Road.
Harley Graw was treated with a  deep laceration, according to McBride.
Combs said the facts of the accident are still under investigation by the Indiana State Police’s accident reconstruction team.
Deputy Larry Motsinger was the investigating officer.
