Hey kids! It is time to go back to school and that means it’s also time to play some soccer!
Borden Youth Soccer League is anticipating a successful ninth soccer season.
“My board members and coaches are always excited to be getting ready for a new season,” said Nick Ray, Borden Youth Soccer League President.
“We hope to build on last year’s success and numbers. It was our most successful season to date. Our U9 division grew so much we added an additional field and teams to accommodate the kids,” Ray added.
“This year we are not doing live sign ups. Instead, we are once again using our Vanity URL. Just visit the website http://www.facebook.com/BordenSoccer to learn more about signing up. You will find a link to our home page and our sign up form. This way you can conveniently fill out the form at home and mail it in with a check or money order payable to Borden Youth Soccer League,” Ray added.
All mailed registration forms must be in the mail by Friday, August 17.
Fees for the league are as follows: $40 for first child, an additional $35 for each additional child.
Children from ages 4 to 14, as of their age on August 1, are welcome to sign up.
“Last year we attempted to add a 13 and 14 year old team, but fell just short of roster requirements to field such a team,” said Don Ross, Borden Youth Soccer League Vice-President.
“If enough children in that age group sign up we will add a U14 Division or create a co-ed travel team. We have been consistently successful in numbers of children participating, and because both Henryville and Silver Creek High Schools currently have soccer, but with no youth league feeder system like ours, we anticipate Borden High School teams soon. We are hoping that adding this older group will help to keep the children’s skills from diminishing and their interest level high in this great sport until then,” Ross added.
You do not have to be a resident of Borden to participate.
“We encourage kids from the surrounding communities in Clark, Floyd and Washington Counties to participate in our league. We don’t just have kids from Borden playing. We have kids from Pekin, Salem and Sellersburg playing here. We know we have as a professionally run and well coached league as you will find,” Ray added.
In addition the league is also looking for coaches at all levels and team sponsors.
“We are always in need additional coaches. We have needs at all levels this year, because many of our parent-coaches are moving up or down in divisions to stay with their children or to coach their younger ones. Anyone interested in coaching should contact me by phone at 502-773-3610,” said Ross. “In addition we have relied heavily on the Southern Indiana Youth Boosters, Inc. to help with extra expenses and equipment. However, that source of
revenue is no longer available and we are seeking team sponsors this year at $100 each team. Anyone interested in sponsoring a team may contact me or Nick Ray.”
The Borden Youth Soccer League season practices begin on September 4 and the season runs through October. It will include at least seven games at each division. Each child must have to play: shin guards, and soccer cleats. The Borden Youth Soccer League will supply team shirts, shorts and socks.
Remember there will be no sign ups after Wednesday, August 17 and no refunds after Monday, August 20.
