“Wow! What a great community we live in,” stated Rhonda Davidson, Director of the Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department.
Last Saturday, July 28 the Charlestown Parks and Recreation Department sponsored the 4th  annual “Back to School Bash” Backpack giveaway.
“We gave away over 400 backpacks to Charlestown kids in need. The remainder will be distributed to the schools for kids in need after the kids go back on August 8. I can’t tell you enough how overwhelming it is to see these businesses and organizations lined up and ready to greet our kids with school supplies and other items needed to help their school year get off to a great start. Thank You to all of our Community Partners for supporting our Parks Department but thank you most of all for helping us make Charlestown the best place to live and raise a family. We are Charlestown!,” Davidson concluded.
The Community Partners who helped to make the annual Back to School Bash a successful were: North Clark Outreach Center (NCOC), Harpring Steel, New Washington State Bank, Anytime Fitness of Charlestown, Grayson Funeral Home, River Crossing Assisted Living Healthcare Center,  Charlestown Kiwanis International, Sam’s Club, Walmart, Moments Photography, Dunn Orthodontics of Sellersburg, Jana and Kevin Fisher, Charlestown Lions Club, Jay C Food Store, Charlestown Senior Citizens Inc. (CSC), Geri and John Heal, Kay and Chuck Ledbetter, Sr., Smith Family Dentistry - Gary Smith D.M.D., Carpenters Local Union #631, Presbyterian Community Church, Dale Robinson - State Farm Insurance, A2Z Metals Recycling, Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt of Clarksville, Patti Howard and Dayna Ashley and Schuler Bauer Realty, Texas Roadhouse, The Leader / Green Banner Publications, Charlestown Police Department, Charlestown Clerk Treasurer Donna Coomer and Charlestown Mayor Bob Hall.
