Hoosier Uplands funds will aid tornado victims PDF Print E-mail

Hoosier Uplands is being awarded a total of $1.5 million to assist victims of the March 2, 2012 tornado. The funds are being provided by the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority and are made up of Community Development Block Grant and HOME funds.
“We are being provided these funds to help victims in Clark and Washington Counties,” said David Miller, Hoosier Uplands Chief Executive Officer. “Plans are to assist up to 22 homeowners with necessary home repairs and 16 or so with complete new construction,” Miller added.
Persons will also receive homeownership counseling as needed. Receipt of FEMA funds or insurance proceeds does not disqualify someone from this program and a homeowner is not required to apply for FEMA assistance to qualify. There are income qualifications for the assistance.
This program will be administered through the Hoosier Uplands Salem office, so anyone who has questions may contact Natalie Wells or Debbie Taylor at 1-812-883-5368.
