|Parents reminded of students' 2012-13 school immunization requirements|
Children need to receive their required immunization shots before school classes begin.
In a reminder to parents, staff of the Scott County Health Department point out that students in all grades are required to meet the minimum immunization requirements in order to attend school. Requirements can, however, be confusing, so parents are urged to contact their healthcare providers or the Health Department at 752-8455 to find out if their children are up to date for the new school year.
The Health Department, located just north of Scott Memorial Hospital off U.S. Highway 31 North, can give immunizations to children who are uninsured or on Medicaid at no charge through the Vaccines for Children Program. Call the office at 752-8455 for an appointment.
The local department has also partnered with a third party billing system called VaxCare, through which staff is able to vaccinate children with insurance coverage.
Parents are encouraged to call the office as soon as possible to find out of their children's insurance is included under VaxCare.
