Traffic Stop Nets Ten Pounds of Marijuana PDF Print E-mail

 

Earlier today (June 28, 2012) at approximately 8:58 AM, a member of the Indiana State Police Interdiction Team from the Sellersburg Post stopped a 2011 Chevrolet Impala for a traffic infraction. The stop was made on Interstate 65 North near the 28 Mile Marker in Scott County. While speaking to the occupants the trooper could smell an overwhelming odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle. The trooper then called for the Indiana State Police K-9, “Kilo”. “Kilo” alerted on the vehicle showing the presence or odor of illegal narcotics.

 

A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded approximately ten pounds of Marijuana packaged in one gallon plastic bags. The street value of the seized Marijuana is over $10,000 U. S. Dollars.

The members of the Indiana State Police Interdiction Team at Sellersburg are Trooper Nathan Abbott, Master Trooper Josh Banet, Trooper Mark Lamaster and K-9 “Kilo”.

Arrested and Charges:

Driver- Kentel C. Peoples, 23, from Addision Lane in Alpharetta, GA.

1) Dealing Marijuana Over Ten Pounds, C Felony.

2) Possession of Marijuana Over 30 Grams, D Felony.

3) Maintaining a Common Nuisance, D Felony.

Passenger-Thomas McElwain, Jr., 22, from Winfield Avenue in Indianapolis, IN.

1) Dealing Marijuana Over Ten Pounds, C Felony.

2) Possession of Marijuana Over 30 Grams, D Felony.

3) Visiting a Common Nuisance, A Misdemeanor.
