Floyd Central’s Emerald guard has great season PDF Print E-mail

Floyd Central Emerald Guard competed in the TriState Circuit (Ohio, Kentucky, & Indiana) Winter Guard Championships on March 31.  They traveled to Ryle High School in Union, KY and competed against 13 other high school winter guard units.  As they “took the floor in championship competition” they were undefeated.  They captured the Championship title in Scholastic Class A-2 for the first time.  In 2010, they received a bronze.  They will now move up to Scholastic Class A.
The season’s show was called “Lux Aeterna,” Eternal light.  They performed to Nella Fantasia by Paul Potts.  The guard is instructed by Charles Williams and Chris Dulin.
The 17 member unit were made up of  students in grades 12th through 8th.

Previous competitions were at Madison High School, Madison, IN;  Bryan Station in Lexington, KY; Nelson Co. in Bardstown, KY; and Mildford High School, in Ohio.
Floyd Central’s Percussion Project also captured 3rd in Scholastic A Class at the TriState Championship with their piece entitled “Teddy Bears vs. Robots.” They are instructed by Hank Rothrock with Aaron Hanka and Chris Jackson assisting.  In 2010 the Percussion Project received a gold and in 2009 they received a bronze.
