|2012 Founders Day road closures announced by CPD|
The Charlestown Police Department would like to inform local residents and visitors of scheduled road closures and parking restrictions during the annual Charlestown Founders Day Celebration. The Department requests your assistance and cooperation in making the event enjoyable, safe and secure for everyone who attends. As a reminder, alcoholic beverages, weapons of any kind, lude or disorderly conduct will not be permitted or tolerated in and around the events areas.
The following dates and times of street closures will be enforced for the upcoming Charlestown Founders Day festivities. Founders Day will be held on the city square from June 22 to 23.
Road Closures will be:
*All Streets that make up the city square (Short Street/ Main Street and Main Cross): will be closed Thursday, June 21 from 6 a.m. until Sunday, June 24 at 8 p.m.
*Main Street: From Market Street to Main Cross will be closed Friday, June 22 from 6 a.m. until Saturday, June 23 at 12 midnight.
*Main Cross: corner of Main and Main Cross to the alley adjacent to Short Street (alley to be closed) will be closed on Friday, June 22 from 6 a.m. until Saturday, June 23 at 12 midnight.
*Market Street: From Main Street to Water Street down to one travel lane only on the northbound side of Market Street beginning on Friday, June 22 at 6 a.m. until Saturday, June 23 at 12 midnight.
*Monroe Street: From State Road 62 to Market Street- No parking on either side of Monroe Street from 8 a.m. until 12 noon on Saturday, June 23 only.
Handicap parking will be on Main Cross from the alley adjacent to Short Street to Water Street on the east side only from Friday, June 22 at 6 a.m. until Sunday, June 24.
Post Office parking on the west side of Main Cross Street in front of the post office will be open during regular post office hours and closed on Saturday, June 23 at 12:30 p.m. until Sunday, June 24 at 8 p.m. at which time it converts to handicap parking only.
Parking areas designated for emergency vehicles, vendors and event personnel will be restricted to permit parking only.
