A southern Indiana theatre will premiere a new musical about Lincoln’s Indiana boyhood years in the summer and will feature an actor from Sellersburg.
The two-act musical play A.LINCOLN: A Pioneer Tale will debut at the 1500-seat, covered Lincoln Amphitheatre in June.
Playwright Ken Jones has written a new play for Lincoln Amphitheatre that will be a new family-friendly presentation of Lincoln’s Indiana Boyhood story in a two-act musical production. A Pioneer Tale will include an original score of ten songs.
“This new musical will show that as the boy grew to a man in Indiana, and through determination of spirit and a compassion for the people, this common American achieved greatness. With this new musical play, audiences will experience and celebrate the life and times of this extraordinary man through song, dance, and spectacle,” says Jones.
The musical play will include ten original songs written by Christine Jones and composed by Jamey Strawn.
Jones is an award winning playwright and director. Jones has had over 450 productions of his 22 original plays, with 8 published. He has won 8 Acclaim Awards, a Telly Award, a Communicator’s Award, the Post-Corbett Award, the Delauney Playwriting Award, the Denver PrimaFacie Award, the Kentucky Playwright’s Award, Short and Sweet International, and an Emmy nomination.
