A woman suspected of having conspired with two other individuals to forge a stolen check has pleaded not guilty in Scott Circuit Court to the three charges filed against her.
Vickie Stidham, 48, Austin, and co-defendants Joshua Roberts, 24, Scottsburg, and Carl Ray Chandler II, 24, Austin are all charged with forgery and conspiracy to commit forgery. The two men are also both charged with theft and conspiracy to commit theft, with Stidham and Roberts facing an additional charge of receiving stolen property. The trio are accused of having stolen a checkbook and cashing a check, forging the owner’s name to the document in February. Roberts and Chandler entered not guilty pleas to their charges earlier in May, but Stidham could not be located until this past week. Her initial court hearing was held on Friday morning, May 25. Judge Roger Duvall scheduled a preliminary date of October 1 for Stidham’s jury trial. He set her bond at $25,000 corporate surety or full cash and assigned her case to a public defender.
