A Scott County man now faces two charges of child molesting, both Class A felonies, in Scott Circuit Court.

Indiana State Police Detective Brian Busick arrested James Steven Allen, 51, West Leota Road, Scottsburg, on Thursday, afternoon, June 7.

A complaint was earlier made to the ISP, Sellersburg post, alleging Allen had molested a child between the ages of three and four years old in Scott County several years ago. Allen's arrest occurred after he was interviewed by Det. Busick and Deputy Jeremy Arnold of the Sheriff's Department. Allen was 46 to 48 years old at the time of the alleged incidents.

Allen appeared at an initial hearing before Judge Roger Duvall in Circuit Court on Friday, June 8. Following his not guilty plea, Judge Duvall assigned a preliminary date of November 13 for the jury trial. Bail was set at $100,000 corporate surety/full cash.

Allen has been assigned a public defender to assist him in his defense.

A "no contact" order was also served on him on behalf of the victim during court proceedings.
