Indiana State Police served a warrant on a woman in connection with a 2011 crime which occurred in Scott County.
Master Trooper Wilbur Turner of the Sellersburg ISP post served the warrant on Candace McDaniel, 39, on Saturday, May 5. McDaniel was being held in the Clark County Jail in Jeffersonville on unrelated criminal charges at the time of her arrest on five drug charges. The warrant was issued for McDaniel this past January by Scott Superior Court.
McDaniel is charged with one count of receiving stolen property and two counts each of obtaining a controlled substance by fraud or deceit and possession of a controlled substance. All of the charges are Class D felonies.
The new charges stem from an investigation conducted by Trooper Tracy H. Spencer that began in November, 2011, on stolen prescriptions taken from a Charlestown physician’s office some time in April, 2011. The stolen, forged scripts were taken to a Scott County pharmacy in May, 2011, according to the ISP news release. McDaniel was formally arrested on the new charges. She was remanded to the Clark County Jail until she is transported to Scott County for an initial court hearing, which is expected to occur this week.
