The Charlestown High School Lady Pirate softball team “made it a total team effort” in dismantling the visiting conference rivals from Clarksville.
Charlestown opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with an Alex Hutchinson RBI double to put the Lady Pirates (9?3 and 4?1 Mid Southern Conference) on the board first.
Clarksville answered with three runs of their own in the top of the third before the Lady Pirates poured it on in the bottom of the third; scoring six runs highlighted by back?to?back triples by Ali Webster and Alyssa Price.
The Lady Pirates stole home plate four times, took advantage of four Lady General errors, and scored four more runs in the fifth behind a RBI triple by Kaitlyn Henning.
Webster struck out five in five innings, while Charlestown scored 13 runs off only seven hits.
“This was a total team effort today,” commented Coach Zollman at the conclusion of the game.  “Total effort, without errors...very pleased with these victories.”
