Counterfeit money found in Salem PDF Print E-mail

The Salem Police Department is warning local citizens and businesses to beware of counterfeit money that’s being circulated locally.
According to SPD Detective Scott Ratts, the perpetrators are using the money at restaurants and gas stations at the busiest times of days, trying to catch unknowing workers in a hurry.
Ratts said anyone taking hundred dollar bills needs to check them carefully.
Ratts said in the last week there have been several $100 bills passed at local businesses.
Anyone who comes across the money should notify the Salem Police Department at 883-5101 as soon as possible.
“We are asking anyone who has taken one of these bills to contact the Salem Police Department,” Ratts said. “We also want business to check the bills they take in during the course of business.”
