The Charlestown Police Department will partner with the Grassroots Prevention Coalition of Clark County at a Town Hall Meeting at the Charlestown Public Library on April 12 at 6:30 p.m.
The town hall meeting is going to be a discussion on the prevention of youth alcohol, drug and tobacco usage and what to do about it. The community discussion will include; featured speakers, local law enforcement, discussion with concerned professionals in the legal field, mental health field and the court system. The discussion will cover legal options, addictions to synthetics, inhalants, prescription medications, alcohol and tobacco.
Officers in Charlestown have noticed a steady increase in calls for service relating to the abuse of synthetic drugs and prescription pain killers.
“We need to educate the public to the danger of these substances,” remarked Major Jason Broady, Assistant Chief of Police.
Chief Keith McDonald added, “We look forward to seeing the community there and hope citizens are able to take something away from the discussion.”
