Rose Island Playhouse to host auditions for “THE EDUCATION OF ANGELS” PDF Print E-mail

Rose Island Playhouse Community Theatre will hold auditions for Matthew Carlin’s comedy “THE EDUCATION OF ANGELS” on Saturday, January 7 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Charlestown Arts & Enrichment Center located at 999 Water Street in Charlestown.
The cast calls for two women, one child and six men: Nick- an angel-in-training, in his thirties; Jenna- an angel-in-training, in her thirties; Cabbie- the cab driver from Heaven to Earth; Dave- the groom, in his forties; Natalie- Dave’s domineering ex-wife, in her forties; Chuck- the pastor; Clifton- a very spiritual and wise elderly man; Jack- Dave’s best friend and Ally- Dave’s five year old soon-to-be stepdaughter.
Nick and Jenna are two angels-in-training who are about to be sent back to Earth for their final exam. When they return to Earth, they find Dave, a guy who is even more mixed up than they are. He is at the church, long before he should be on his wedding day. Throw in a domineering ex-wife and the fact that Dave is the only one that can see only one of the angels... and multiple comic situations ensue. There is a serious side to this play, though, as the audience will see Nick struggling to understand why he’s back on Earth and perhaps, indeed, why he is an angel in the first place.
The performance dates are March 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18. The rehearsals will be on Tuesdays, Thursdays and some Saturdays starting on January 10 with a read through.
