IU wins big on the road in Evansville PDF Print E-mail

Only one time in its last 30 road games had the Indiana Hoosiers managed a win. On Wednesday night at Evansville, that doubled that total.

IU went up early 7-0 and then cruised to a 94-73 win over a Purple Ace team that entered the game off the heels of a big win over Butler to open the season.

Verdell Jones III led five Indiana players in double figures with 17.

Junior Christian Watford added 15 and Cody Zeller had 14 points and nine rebounds. Jordan Hills added 14 points and sophomore Will Sheehey added 10 points for the 3-0 Hoosiers.

Indiana Head Coach Tom Crean credited his team's defense and focus for the win.

"Our guys were locked in," Crean said. "Preparation was evident from the coaches. It all started on the defensive end with our intensity and our intelligence. We just did a lot of things the right way."

IU will be back in action Saturday at Savannah State at 8 p.m. They will follow that with a game at Assembly Hall Monday against Gardner-Webb at 6:30 p.m.
