Pedestrian struck, killed north of Pekin PDF Print E-mail

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 5:10 a.m. Monday morning on State Road 60 just north of Pekin.
According to a press release issued by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, a 2009 Kia Sorento driven by Michelle Feist was traveling East on 60, North of the Pekin City Limits.


The report said that as Feist was overtaking another East bound vehicle, she struck a pedestrian, Micha Van Burme, 17, in the West-bound lane.
Van Durme was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation.
Additional departments that assisted on the scene are, New Pekin Police, Pierce-Polk First Responders, Washington County EMS, Indiana State Police and the Washington County Coroner.
