The Clark County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a call from Coast Guard from the port of Louisville advising that a tow vessel had located the body of a white female floating in the Ohio River around river mile marker 586.5. The vessel was advised to recover the body and take it to River's Edge Marina located in Charlestown.
Clark County Sheriff’s Office Detective Burton, Officer Cotton and Lt. Gilkey made contact with the vessel and the body was recovered at the boat ramp of the marina. Deputy Coroner Joe Leach was also at the scene.
The body was that of a white female matching the description of a person that went missing from the Madison area earlier in the day. The victim was last seen by her husband around 2 a.m. and her unattended, running car was located on the Madison-Milton bridge at approximately 5 a.m. Kentucky State Police then began to investigate the missing person case.
The body was transported to Clark Memorial Hospital where Detective Burton and Deputy Coroner Joe Leach met with Detective Jason Brown of KSP. Detective Brown confirmed the victims identity by confirming scars and jewelry that the victim was wearing. After discussion, it was determined to send the body to the Kentucky Medical Examiners office for an autopsy.
The victim suffered from depression and postpartum syndrome.
Next of kin notification was pending at press time.
