Scottsburg senior Darion Hutchinson was selected from more than 1,600 players to the 30th  annual Girls Top 60 Workout. The IHSAA and IBCA in conjunction with Hoosier Basketball Magazine hosted the event on Sunday March 13, 2011 on the campus of Marian University in Indianapolis.
Hutchinson has also been chosen as an Indiana All Star to play in the 23rd  annual North/South Indiana All-Star Classic. This game will be played at Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana on Sunday, April 10, 2011 starting at 2:00pm. Darion will be the first Warriorette to be named to this All-Star Team in 17 years. (The last being Patti Hutchinson in 1994)
Over the past 22 years, the North/South All-Star Classic is Indiana’s only statewide all-star series that has included more than 420 players and 50 coaches who subsequently participated in the Indiana – Kentucky All-Star series.
Hutchinson a 6’1” senior averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists in leading the Warriorettes to a 17 - 5 record this season.
With scoring 403 points this season Hutchinson is now 11th  on the all time single season scoring list at Scottsburg. The last player to reach the 400 point mark in a season was again Patti Hutchinson back in 1994.  Darion also led the Mid-Southern Conference this season with 22 points per game, was named to the all conference 1st  team and was also named Mid-Southern Conference Player of the Year.  Hutchinson has led the Warriorettes in scoring the past 3 seasons, rebounding past 2 seasons, while being named to her 3rd  consecutive Team MVP honor. Darion contributes her success to hard work and setting goals. “I had no clue what I could achieve until I met Coach Lee Larkins,” Hutchinson said. After playing only one summer under Coach Larkins and the Indiana Explosion AAU Team she learned that she could play & compete with the top players in the state and be successful.
If there is one piece of advice that Darion could give to all young basketball players it would be:  “Everyone has basketball games and everyone has basketball practice…. it’s what you do above and beyond that makes the difference.”
