Paws for a Cause to meet March 3
The Paws for a Cause meeting will be Thursday, March 3, at Save-A-Step Marathon by Wal-Mart. Committees will be set up. Anyone interested in saving the lives of animals should attend.
Lincoln Day Dinner March 4
The Scott County Lincoln Day Dinner will be held on Friday, March 4, at 6:30 p.m. at L.J.’s Banquet Hall in Scottsburg. Cost of the event is $25 per person. For more information contact Yvette Dowd.
Healthy eating workshop March 10
The Scott County Public Library will host Andrea Elgin on Thursday, March 10, from 6 to 7 p.m. Elgin will make a presentation on healthy eating. The community is invited to attend.
Revival at Free Holiness Pentecostal Church
The Free Holiness Pentecostal Church of God will be holding a revival Saturday, March 5 through Saturday, March 12, at 1163 Mann Avenue in Austin. The guest evangelist will be Sheila Smith. Services will begin at 6 p.m.
Ribbon cutting ceremony March 18
The Greater Scott County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 18, at 11 a.m. at the National Youth Advocate Program, located at 56 E. McClain Avenue in Scottsburg. The community is invited to attend.
Soup and sandwich luncheon March 6
The Finley Township Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a soup and sandwich luncheon on Sunday, March 6, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the firehouse.
The fire department is located on State Road 56, west of Scottsburg. There will be a free will donation. Everyone is invited to attend.
Austin BZA sets hearing March 15
Members of the Austin Board of Zoning Appeals will conduct a hearing at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, at Austin City Hall.
The hearing will determine if members of the Broadway Pentecostal Church, 92 Broadway Street, will be allowed to build an addition onto the church that will result in less rear yardage than is allowed in the Austin Zoning Ordinance. All interested persons are welcome to attend.
Free Explore Indiana program March 10
The Jackson County Public Library will host a free Explore Indiana program at 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, in the Crothersville Library meeting room. The program presenter is Jane Hays from the JCVC. For more information or to register, contact Crothersville Library at 793-2927.
Library Board to meet March 9
Trustees of the Scott County Public Library will convene for their next monthly business meeting on Wednesday, March 9. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the library in downtown Scottsburg. The public is welcome to attend.
Revival planned and Singing Cookes at Shelter for the Sheep
The Shelter for the Sheep Pentecostal Church will be in revival with Oscar Oakley from Ohio on Sunday, March 6 through Friday, March 11, at 7 p.m. nightly.
On Saturday, March 12, the Singing Cookes will be at the Shelter for the Sheep for a night of gospel singing and rejoicing in the lord. Pastor Larry Hatton invites everyone to attend.
VFW holding officer nominations March 8
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6582, Scott County Veterans will be having nomination of officers for the year 2011-2012 on March 8, at 7 p.m. at the Post Home. Officers will be nominated in March, elected in April and installed in May. All veterans are encouraged to attend and participate.
Pioneer life topic at Lexington Historical Society
A demonstration of pioneer life will be presented by Steve and Jeannie Noe Carlisle to those attending the Monday, March 28, meeting of the Lexington Historical Society at the fellowship hall of Lexington Christian Church. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m., and refreshments will be served. The hall is located at the corner of Alexander and Hunt Streets in Lexington. The public is welcome to attend.
Free craft program at C’ville Library March 2
The Jackson County Public Library will offer a free craft program for children ages five through eleven at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2, in the Crothersville Library meeting room. Participants will make St. Patrick’’s Day pins and bookmarks. Registration is required. To register, or for more information, contact the Crothersville Library at 793-2927.
Breakfast at Trinity House of Prayer March 12
The Trinity House of Prayer, located at 603 W. Maple Street in Austin, will be having a breakfast on Saturday, March 12, from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.
The menu will include pancakes and bacon or sausage or biscuits and gravy and coffee or milk.
Cost is $5 for adults and children 2 to 12 will be $3. See any church member for tickets or purchase the day of the breakfast.
Special services at Henryville UMC March 4-6
The Henryville United Methodist Church, located at 113 S. Ferguson Street, will hold special revival services on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, March 4-6, at 7 p.m. The Rev. Tim Johnson, pastor of Pfrimmer’s Chapel UMC will be the evangelist. Special music will be provided by Tim Lorentzen Family also known as “Old Hats” from New Chapel UMC. The community is invited to attend.
Local Athlete is amongst nominees for Indiana Miss Basketball
Darion Hutchinson of the Scottsburg Warriorettes is one of the nominees for the 2011 Indianapolis Star Indiana Miss Basketball and to provide input on the members of the 2011 Indiana Girls’ All-Star Basketball team. Open Sunday Dinner March 6
The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6582 ladies auxiliary will be hosting a dinner Sunday, March 6, at the post at 12 noon.
The menu will include: chicken, sauerkraut and smoked sausage, mashed potatoes, gravy, brussel sprouts, great northern beans, corn, pinto beans, desserts, salads, tea, coffee, lemonade.
The cost is $6 for all you can eat and carry out is available. For more information call 794-3511. The post is located on U.S. 31 between Scottsburg and Austin.
Jennings Township Conservation Club bluebird boxes available March 5
The Jennings Township Conservation Club members have prepared 150 bluebird houses to be distributed Saturday, March 5, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Anyone interested should come early to the clubhouse located just north of Terry Corner on Burns Road. Limit is set at two boxes per family.
