?? ?    Teaching jobs have been filled at Scott School District 1, according to information released by Superintendent Berley Goodin this week.
Sheila Carter will serve as a teacher and the director of the district’s new preschool program for four-year-olds. Tara Branch will also be a teacher in the program, which has been set up in what were formerly first grade classrooms at Austin Elementary School. Another teacher, Tiffany Cole, will be added to the preschool staff if numbers of children increase to what school officials are expecting.
Susie Bowman will work in elementary special education this year.
At the elementary school, Sarah White will teach second grade in the new second/third grade, and Heidi Inman will teach fourth grade in the new Austin Upper Elementary School, now located in the old middle school building.
The middle school is also getting several new teachers.
Mandy Lueking will teach English. Jessica Nowlin Craig will teacher physical education and health classes, and Joseph Humphrey will be teacher social studies and take charge of the media class.

At the high school, Kyle Ahlbrand will teach math. Seth Mataeis has been assigned to physical education and health classes. Cassandra Sturgeon will be teaching consumer science.
Rick Rigel, who retired from full-time teaching this spring, will be returning for several classes. He’ll be teaching the college-level courses in calculus and algebra for advanced math students wanting to earn some college credits while still in high school.
School for all but kindergarten and preschool children begins on Thursday, August 7, in District 1.
All fall coaching jobs have been filled with the exception of varsity and junior varsity volleyball, advised Supt. Goodin.
Jared Petersen will again be coaching boys’ varsity tennis. In cross country, John Johnson is the boys’ coach, and Leslie Carter is the girls’ coach.
