Chelsea Church of God Kids Ministry and
Nursery Christmas drama Dec. 12
Chelsea Church of God N.E.W. Kids Ministry and Wee Ones Nursery will be presenting a drama entitled “Christmas Hope” on December 12, at 10:45a.m.
The kids have worked very hard on this drama and would like to share it with their family, friends, and the public. Please come out and support these children as they show you why Christmas is a time of true hope. The church is located at 6231 U.S. State Road 62, five miles north of New Washington and five miles east of Lexington. The community is invited to attend.
Fundraiser set for polio victim
A soup supper is planned for this Saturday, December 11, to benefit Angie Oresik of Hanover, who is suffering from the effects of polio. The event will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Hanover, located at the intersection of State Roads 56 and 62.
The soup supper will features soup, sandwiches, dessert and drink. Donations will be gladly accepted, and takeout service will be available. A silent auction has also been arranged. Lots of nice items donated by area businesses will be featured. All are welcome to attend the fundraiser, the proceeds of which will be used to purchase a ceiling lift and transfer system for the woman. For more information, call 1-812-866-3184.
Medicare seminar Dec. 8 at S’burg Senior Center
Carolyn Trueblood, Senior Advocate for Indiana Bank and Trust, will again present a Medicare Seminar at the Scottsburg Senior Center, 183 S. 2nd St., Scottsburg on Wednesday, December 8, at 10:30 a.m. She was so well received at the Austin Senior Center in October that she was asked to come back to Scottsburg. She will cover Medicare enrollment procedures, Medicare coverage, Medicare eligibility, Medicare medical and prescription plan comparison.
This is the time to compare plans for the upcoming year. She will also be glad to talk to anyone on a one-on-one basis. This is a service provided by Indiana Bank and Trust Company.
CHS music department Christmas concert Dec. 12
The Crothersville High School Music Department will present its Christmas Concert on Sunday, Dec. 12, at 3 p.m. in the CHS Cafetorium. The Crothersville Middle School and High School Bands will begin the concert with several Christmas selections.
The Concert Choir will conclude the program with “Here We Come
A-Wassailing,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Carol of the Bells,” “A Merry Christmas Medley,” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas.” Admission to the concert is free. However, we are asking everyone to bring in one canned food item. This will go to support the Crothersville FFA Christmas Food Drive. The Crothersville High School Music Department is under the direction of Peggy Adams and Joseph Law.
Blood drive at First Baptist Church Dec. 13
The American Red Cross will be conducting a blood drive at the First Baptist Church on Monday, December 13, from 2 to 6 p.m. The church is located at 122 North Hyland Street in Scottsburg.
All presenting blood and platelet donors from December 1 through December 31 will be eligible to win a $100 Visa gift card to be raffled each day. Raffle winners will be contacted after the promo period ends.
CEASe Forum set for Dec. 9
Colwell brothers singing at Fourth Street Church
The Fourth Street Pentecostal Church at 965 North Fourth Street in Austin will be having a hymn sing featuring the Colwell Brothers on Saturday, December 11, at 6 p.m.
Pastor Green Neace and Assistant Pastor Wendall Eldridge invite everyone to come and join them in a night of praise and worship.
Greater Life Church to hold Christmas program Dec. 11
The Greater Life Tabernacle Church will hold its annual Christmas program on Saturday, December 11, at 6 p.m., at the church, located at 719 S. Dunny Drive in Scottsburg. Hot chocolate and cookies following the program to celebrate the season.
Breakfast with Santa at Scott Lodge Dec. 18
The Scott Lodge No. 120 F&AM in Austin, will be having their annual “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday, December 18, from 8 to 11 a.m. Breakfast will include eggs, bacon sausage, biscuits, gravy and fried potatoes.
Free will donation only and a free picture with Santa for all the kids. Bring the family and share the holiday spirit. The lodge is located on U.S. 31 in Austin, across from Morgan Foods.
Crothersville Police Department to host Santa Claus Dec. 12
The Crothersville Police Department will be having a special visit from Santa Claus on Sunday December 12, from 1 to 3 p.m..
Children should ask their parents to bring them to see Santa if picture are desirable parents please bring your own camera.
Revival at Free Holiness Pentecostal Church of God
The Free Holiness Pentecostal Church of God, located at 1163 Mann Avenue in Austin, will begin a revival starting Saturday, December 18, starting at 6 p.m. with guest speaker Sheila Smith.
The community is invited to come out and spend time with the Lord.
IGMA to meet Dec. 10
The Indiana Gospel Music Association will hold it monthly meeting Friday, December 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the basement of Austin First Baptist Church, 230 West Cherry St., Austin.
It is important that all members attend this meeting as we will be discussing next years upcoming events district and state wide public is also invited to attend also.
Wireless Advisory Board meeting
Members of the Scottsburg Wireless Advisory Board will be meeting at 1 p.m. on Thursday, December 16, for their final meeting of 2010.
The session will be held at Scottsburg City Hall and is open to the public.
Special County Council meeting set December 14
A special meeting of the Scott County Council has been scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday, December 14, at the Courthouse in downtown Scottsburg.
The meeting will concern a number of additional appropriations affecting several county departments and agencies.
The meeting will be in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room on the Courthouse’s first floor. The public is welcome to attend.
