The North Harrison High School 12th ranked boy’s cross country team earned its ranking with another outstanding performance at a very competitive 13-team meet against other ranked teams on Aug. 28.
The Cougars scored 53 points and had a pack time of 1:05.
They won the 28th Annual Columbus East Kick-Off Invitational for the first time since competing in the event for several years.
Johnnie Guy had an excellent race and placed second overall with a time of 16:50. Jonathon Reynolds  placed fifth overall with a time of 17:11, Ryan Foster placed 10th with a time of 17:26, Josh Guy placed 16th with a time of 17:45, Kyle Chesser placed 20th overall with a PR time of 17:55, and Cody Morgan placed 55th with a time of 19:29.
The JV boy’s ran very well in their race coming in sixth place as a team with a pack time of 2:54. Jason Head finished in 16th place with a PR time of 19:50, Wesley Wiseheart placed 39th with a time of 21:21, Wesley Haub placed 45th with a time of 22:06, Ben Wellner placed 50th with a time of 22:19, Conrae Johannes placed 52nd with a PR time of 22:46, while Aaron Lett placed 61st and ran the race in 23:11.
North Harrison’s girls’ team ran well also in the JV race coming in fourth place with a score of 104 points and a pack time of 2:00.
Freshman Shelby Lindsey led the girls finishing in 17th place with a PR time of 25:34 (she also received honors as one the top 20 freshman of the day), Sydney Taylor finished in 20th place with a time of 25:38, Jenna Waiz finished in 27th place with a time of 26:25, Mikayla Gaines finished in 35th place with a PR time of 27:21, Abbey Stone finished in 42nd place with a time of 27:34, Olivia Davis placed 43rd  with a time of 27:35, Allison Walls finished in 49th place with a PR time of 32:03, and Brittney Voyles finished in 50th place with a PR time of 34:36.

“It’s going to be a Good Night” was playing on Kyle Chesser’s boom box as the Cougars loaded the bus to leave the meet, and indeed it was a good night for the Cougar Harriers.
The North Harrison cross country team got off to a stellar start last night with its first meet of the year.
The boys’ team finished in first place with a score of 19 points and had a pack time of 1:01.
The Little Four Classic originated in 1993 and since then the North Harrison boy’s team has won this event 6 years in a row and 11 out of the last 18 years.
The “Top Five” ran as a tight pack leading the race for the first two miles before cutting loose for the last mile.
Jonathan Reynolds won the race with a time of 17:22 with teammate Johnnie Guy right behind him finishing second with a time of 17:24. Ryan Foster rounded out the top three places finishing third overall with a time of 17:55. Josh Guy and Kyle Chesser ran very well also keeping very close to the front runners finishing in sixth  and sevent place overall with respective times of 18:15 and 18:23. Cody Morgan ran a good solid race and finished in 13th place with a time of 19:56 and Jason Head in his first XC HS race ran very well and finished in 17th place with a time of 20:50.Wesley Haub also in his first HS race did a nice job finishing in 28th place with a time of 21:59. Wesley Wiseheart finished in  29th place with a time of 22:21, Ben Wellner finished in 35th place with a time of 24:02, Conrae Johannes will no doubt remember his first HS XC race running half of the race in one shoe finishing in 37th place with a time of 24:16.  Aaron Lett finished in 39th place with a time of 25:27. 
The North Harrison girls’ team finished fourth with a score of 80 points with a very solid pack time of 1:27. Sydney Taylor finished in 11th place overall with a time of 27:14. Abbey Stone finished in 14th place overall with a time of 27:44. Shelby Lindsey in her first HS XC race finished in 15th place with a time of 27:54. Mikayla Gaines in her dubut XC race finished in 19th place with a time of 28:17. Jenna Waiz finished in 21st place with a time of 28:41. Olivia Davis finished in 23rd  place with a time of 31:47. Brittany Voyles and Allison Walls also in their debut XC race finished 29th and 30th place respectively with times of 36:41 and 36:42. Nisa Moss finished in 31st place with a time of 38:36.
North Harrison will be back in action Thursday when they host their own invitational meet.
