?? For the 2008-2009 school year, Scottsburg High School will be implementing a program called Career Clusters.
Career Clusters involves community volunteers in several different career sectors.
According to Jennifer Mills, who is coordinating Career Clusters, there has been a wonderful response rate to volunteers for this program already, but there are a few key career clusters that still need representation from the local community to fully engage and match students’ selected interests.
Volunteers are still needed to cover students who are interested in participating in clusters devoted to agriculture, veterinary science, music, design, medical doctor, nursing, dentist, pharmacy, science, and engineering.

Dates have been set for the six sessions of career clusters: September 24 from 10:10 to 10:50 a.m.; October 29 from 12:40 to 1:55 p.m.; December 10 from 1:10 to 1:50 p.m.; January 28 from 10:10 to 10:50 a.m.; March 18 from 10 to 11:15 a.m.; and May 6 from 1:10 to 1:50 p.m.
During these sessions, cluster leaders will answer questions, introduce mock work assignments, possibly invite and make arrangements for students to visit their workplaces for tours and job shadowing and prepare students for interviewing and career paths of their desired fields.
Loose guidelines will be provided for cluster leaders, but leaders are invited to be creative to give their group of students a real-life experience in their fields.
Appreciation is expressed to the over 50 community members who have already volunteered to be cluster leaders.
This endeavor has been a collaborative effort between Scottsburg High School, Scott County Chamber of Commerce, Scott County Economic Development Group, and the Scott County Partnership.
