Youth First of Washington County is organizing yard sale to not only raise money for Youth First but to also aid families with the financial burden of purchasing back to school clothing. The Youth First Yard Sale will be on Saturday, August 28 at the Fabri-Form parking lot on Highway 60 in Pekin from 7 a.m. until noon.
Youth First will be offering a “Stuff and Save” special on all clothing.
Families can stuff as much clothing as they can fit into a plastic grocery bag for $3 a bag. Purchasing back to school supplies and clothing can be a burden for families each year as school starts back into session.
During these tough times as families struggle to make ends meet and search for employment opportunities, the burden can be felt even more. Youth First wants to help relieve the burden not only for parents but also for children.
Heading back to school can be a stressful time for kids as they wonder how their friends will treat them, how hard classes will be and if they will ultimately “fit in.” Youth First hopes to help students feel more confident as they head to school each day by providing them with gently used new clothes at an affordable price.
As you clean your closets out and have your kids try on the school clothes from last year, please consider donating the gently used clothing your children have outgrown to Youth First. Don’t feel you have to stop at just clothing! Youth First will accept other household items to include in the yard sale as well.
Contributions can be dropped off in Salem by contacting Beth Armstrong at 883-5565 or in Pekin by calling Debbie Mishler at 967-4759. So clean out your closets, cut down on the clutter and do your part to put Youth First in Washington County!
