This year’s ambassador is Alexander “Lex” Gilstrap, son of Nathan and Sarah Gilstrap of Pekin. Lex was born 13 weeks premature on June 1, 2009. He weighed only one pound and nine ounces. He spent the first four months of his life in intensive care being treated for numerous medical problems. Today, at a year old, Lex is still small but he’s strong and doing well.
