The Sellersburg Celebrates! Community Luncheon will be held on Friday, August 27 at 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Rock Creek Community Academy. This year’s gust speaker will be Tara Denzinger.
Denzinger is the surviving spouse of Floyd County Sheriff’s Department Police Officer Frank C. Denzinger.
Officer Denzinger was ambushed and killed in the line of duty by a 15 year old on June 18, 2007.
Ms. Denzinger has always had a deep appreciation and respect for the emergency service community, especially law enforcement. She worked previously in law enforcement as both a dispatcher and reserve officer before meeting Frank and was pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at the time of his death. She completed earning that degree, dedicating it to her husband, in May of 2008.
She is the Honorary Chairperson for the Frank C. Denzinger Scholarship Fund and is a founding member of “Helping Hoosier Heroes” an organization that will assist police officers injured in the line of duty.
