Fathers to be honored at genealogical meeting
At the next meeting of the Scott County Genealogical Society on Thursday, June 3, fathers will be honored.
Each person will be able to participate in a “show and tell” about male ancestors. Bring photos and tell stories about male ancestors.
Doors at the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum in Scottsburg will open at 6 p.m., and food will be served. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $6 at the door. The museum is located at 1050 South Main Street. For more information, call 752-3388.
Believer’s with a Vision Youthfest June 25 at New Frankfort
Believer’s with a Vision Youthfest at New Frankfort Pentecostal Church has been set for Friday, June 25, from 4 to 9 p.m.
There will be food and refreshments served through out the evening. There will also be different kinds of booths set up outside for the adults and kids to play and win prizes.
There will also be a gospel singing outside as well. All proceeds go to the youth.
Lexington Historical Society meets May 28
Those interested in Lexington area history are welcome to attend the next meeting of the Lexington Historical Society, planned for Monday, June 28, at the Lexington Christian Church.
Representatives from the Christian Church and Lexington Presbyterian Church will present histories of their churches. The event will begin at 7 p.m. The church is located at 2604 South Alexander Street.
Memorial Day service May 31
The Indiana Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be hosting a Memorial Day Service on May 31. The Indiana Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery is located at 1415 North Gate Road in Madison. The service will begin at 1 p.m.
The keynote speaker will be Brigadier General Margaret Washburn, Assistant Adjutant General, Indiana National Guard. There will be a limited number of seating, please bring a lawn chair.
Youth football tailgate party and sign-ups June 12
The Scott County Youth Football tailgate party and sign-ups will be held; on Thursday, June 3, at Leroy’s Grocery in Lexington, from 5 to 7 p;.m. and at Saturday, June 12, at the small shelter house at Beechwood Park, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. End of sign-ups will be July 23.
American Legion seeking volunteers to place flags on graves
The Scott Post 234 of the American Legion will be holding a meeting at the post on Saturday, May 29, at 7 a.m.
Anyone interested in honoring deceased veterans, American Legion and its veterans will be requesting anyone who wants to help place flags on all veterans graves. For more information call 752-3339.
Wells-Hall reunion June 6
The Wells-Hall family reunion wll be held on Sunday, June 6, at the Beechwood Park Shelterhouse in Scottsburg. All family and friends are invited to attend. A pitch-in diner will be held at 12:30 p.m.
Democrat Club 5k run/walk June 5
The Scott County Democrat Club will be having its first annual 5k run/walk on Saturday, June 5.
The race will start at 8 a.m. with registration opening at 7 a.m. Race location will be at the Scott County Museum. Water and light refreshments will be served. For more information call Missy Applegate at 752-8442 or stop by the Scott County Recorder’s office.
Cravens-Williams reunion June 13
The 11th annual Cravens/Williams family reunion will be held on Sunday, June 13, at the Scottsburg Warrior Reservation from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Lunch will be served at 12 noon, following the prayer. There will be food, family fun and pictures.
Everyone is asked to bring a covered dish for everyone to enjoy and an item for the auction.
Family craft program at C’ville Library May 27
The Jackson County Public Library will offer a free family craft program at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, at the Crothersville Library. Families will create apple picture frame magnets.
Registration is required and is limited to 20 individuals.

Comedian to perform at Austin Christian
Christian comedian Tony Wolf will perform at Austin Christian Church on Wednesday night, June 9, at 7 p.m.
Wolf is an established national speaker and musician and an author.
Paul Walker, Youth Minister of Austin Christian Church extended an invitation to the public to attend the concert. A free-will offering will be taken.

Uniontown Cemetery Garage Sale Scheduled June 4 and 5
Caretakers of Uniontown Cemetery along with members of Uniontown Baptist Church will be hosting another Garage Sale on Friday June 4th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday June 5, from 8 to 11a.m.
A large variety of items including household, clothing and miscellaneous will be offered. This event is held to help raise funds for the maintenance of the Cemetery.

Front Line Ministry beginning at New Covenant
The Church of the New Covenant is starting a new ministry known as Front Line Ministry, which is focused on the young adults, young couples, teens and children or anyone with a heart to reach this group of people for Jesus .

Preservation Alliance board will meet
The Board of Directors of Preservation Alliance Inc. (PAI) will conduct its monthly business session at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, at the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum.
The business meeting is open to the public. The museum is located at 1050 South Main Street in Scottsburg.
Relay for Life yard sale June 4 and 5
A yard sale on the grounds of American Martyrs Catholic Church in Scottsburg will benefit the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) Relay for Life in Scott County on Friday and Saturday, June 4 and 5. Set-up will be at 6 a.m. The sale will open at 7 a.m. each day and run through the early afternoon. All items must be removed by 4 p.m. each day of the sale. Limited space will be available in the parish hall if rain threatens.
Anyone wishing to rent space on either or both days may do so by calling 889-2546. The fee is $10 for one day or $15 for both days and will benefit the ACS through the local Relay for Life.
Donation of items to sell at the church booth will be accepted in the mornings. Call 889-2546 to arrange for pick-ups. All proceeds from these sales will also benefit the Cancer Society.
