Harrison County Hospital is offering free sports physicals for junior and senior high students (entering grades 7-12) planning on participating in sports during the next school year at Harrison and Crawford county schools. These free sports physicals are possible due to the generosity of local primary care physicians. Additionally, the Hospital’s physical therapy staff will offer free flexibility screenings for student athletes.

The sports physicals are scheduled for athletes on Tuesday, May 18, 5:30pm - 8:30pm, by appointment only, at Harrison County Hospital. Only a limited number of free physicals can be given on this date. Student athletes interested in this free physical may call 812-738-7869 to reserve an appointment on Tuesday, April 27 between the hours of 12:30pm – 4:30pm. Appointments are on a first-call-first-served basis. If you do not get an answer, please continue to call as messages will not be taken. When the appointment times are filled, registration will close.

Athletes must bring their IHSSA Pre-Participation Physical Evaluation Form, with parent and student sections completed, to the HCH Main Lobby at the time of their appointment. Athletes arriving without parental signature and preliminary questions completed on the Physical Evaluation Form will not receive the free physical. It may be necessary for athletes to secure health information prior to the physical from their primary care physician in order to complete the Form.

The Harrison County Health Department will be also be onsite to administer free Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (whooping cough) and Menactra (meningitis vaccine) to student athletes. Parents must complete and sign a consent form for their child to receive the free shots. Forms are available at your participating school, the Harrison County Health Department or online at www.hchin.org or www.harrisoncountyhealth.com.
