An 8-7 record, and a mediocre regular season will soon be coming to a close for the Warriors, maybe.  With several games on their schedule not played the first time around because of weather issues and five games currently scheduled as make ups or regular games, the Warriors season is far from over just yet.  However, the Warriors are already beginning to settle into the postseason form and prepare for the Sectional tournament.
Out of contention for the MSC title, the Warriors will have a tough test ahead of them if they want to win their first sectional title since 2005.  They will almost certainly have to play one if not two of the sectional favorites in Greensburg and Batesville if they hope to cut down the nets.  However, the Warriors remain optimistic.
We believe we can win it,” said Coach Brent Keck, “in my mind if you’ve got to think you have a shot if you want to have a chance.”
This optimism, however, isn’t hiding what the Warriors need to improve on.  According to the team there are several areas of their play that need to be improved including defense and ball handling.  Of all the things that need to be worked on, the focus for the Warriors is on one of them the most.
“Our biggest challenge is being consistent.  We can play at a high level at times but we haven’t put it together for a full 32 minutes very often.  We’re going to need to do that if we want to have a chance,” said Keck.
As the season comes to a close, the Warriors still wait to see if they will play the remaining games on the schedule and try to gain some momentum heading into tournament time. Looking at their, schedule, Scottsburg still needed to play Floyd Cenral, Southwestern, Madison and Mitchell.
The boys’ sectional is currently scheduled for Tuesday, March 2, at Greensburg High School. The sectional draw has not yet taken place.
The members of the varsity basketball team include: Cameron Wan, Brad Bowling, Andy Densford, Breyden Everitt, Mason Gregory, Courtney Castell, Max Clemons, D.J. Myers, Ben Everett and Cameron Collins.
