    The high school girls basketball regular season is coming to an end. While the teams and area coaches are preparing for their last games on the schedule, they were still curiously awaiting the draw that would tell them the path they must take to bring home the Sectional crown.
    The draw, which was held by the Indiana High School Athletic Association, on Monday night laid the foundation for the 35th Annual Girls State Tournament Series. Now each local girls basketball player, coach and fan know what road they must travel to cut down the nets and hoist the Sectional trophy.
    The Charlestown Lady Pirates will travel to host Silver Creek for Sectional 30 play. Charlestown will open Sectional play on Wednesday, February 10 against the Lady Lions of Salem.
    Silver Creek received the bye and will play the winner of the opening game of the Sectional, North Harrison and Crawford County. Game one pitting North Harrison and the Wolfpack of Crawford County will be played on Tuesday, February 9.
    The following night, Wednesday, February 10, will see Salem and Charlestown in the opening game of the evening. The nightcap will pit Corydon Central and Mitchell.
    The Sectional semi-finals will be held on Friday, February 12. The opening game of semi-final action will pit the home-standing Lady Dragons of Silver Creek and the winner of Game 1 (North Harrison and Crawford County). The night cap will see the winner of game 2 (Salem and Charlestown) against the winner of game 3 (Corydon Central and Mitchell).
    The winners from the semi-final round on Friday night will clash on Saturday night for the Sectional championship.
    The New Washington Lady Mustangs will host Sectional 62. The Lady Mustangs will open their Sectional on Tuesday, February 9 against the Warriors of Christian Academy of Indiana.
    The Rock Creek Christian Academy Lady Lions will face the Lady Eagles of Lanesville during the opening game of Wednesday night, February 10.
    The Lady Braves of Borden will face the Lady Hornets of Henryville in the night cap on Wednesday, February 10.
    South Central Lady Rebels received the bye in Sectional 62 action and will face the winner of game one (New      Washington and Christian Academy of Indiana) in the semi-final round to be held on Friday, February 12. The night cap will feature the winner of game two (Rock Creek and Lanesville) and the winner of game three (Borden and Henryville).
    The winners of the semi final action will face off on Saturday, February 13 for the right to cut the nets for the Sectional 62 championship.
    The admission to the Indiana High School Athletic Association’s Sectionals will be $5 per session or $9 for all sessions.
    The Regional will be held on Saturday, February 20. The winner of the New Washington Class A Sectional will travel to North Daviess for Regional competition. The winners of the Orleans, Loogootee and Tecumseh Sectionals will also travel to North Daviess for Regional play. The winner of the Silver Creek Class 3A Sectional will travel to Jasper for Regional competition. This Regional will also feature the winners of the Sullivan, Pike Central and Gibson Southern. The cost of the Regional will be $6 for one session or $9 for both sessions.
    Semi-State will be held on Saturday, February 27. The north Semi-States will be held at Elkhart Central (Northside Gym) and Warsaw Community while the south Semi-States will be held at Southport and Bedford North Lawrence. Admission to Semi-State will be $7. Teams will be assigned to their Semi-State site after Regional play has determined the teams advancing in the tournament.
    The Girls Basketball State Finals will be  held on Saturday, March 6 at Allen County War Memorial Coliseum located at 4000 Parnell Avenue in Fort Wayne. Session I will begin at 10:30 a.m. Session II will begin at 6 p.m. The cost of the State finals will be $15 a session or both sessions for $25. Reserved tickets may be purchased at participating schools during the State finals week.
