Saturday is full of basketball action at Pekin. The day will begin at 1:30 p.m. with the Lady Musketeers hosting Crawford County.
Then later that night, the Musketeers will square off against county rival Salem.
In addition to the basketball action, all the teams involved will be helping to raise money for a good cause as it will be Coaches vs. Cancer and Breast Cancer Awareness Night.
Everyone is encouraged to wear pink and hats will be passed through the crowd to collect money for cancer research.
Prior to the Salem-Eastern boys' game, the 13th annual Bill Cope Chili Supper will also take place. The meal will be served beginning at 4:30 and will include chili, a peanut butter sandwich or hot dog, crackers, drinks and desert for $4.75.
A la carte items will also be available for purchase.
Chili supper organizer Bobbi Cope said over the years the event has been a huge success.
“I am pretty sure that we have given over $13,000 in scholarship money over the years,” she said. “This is a wonderful way to remember my husband and his generous and loving spirit.”
The Eastern High School Athletic Booster Club is also hosting a silent auction. The top item is a Lebron James autographed basketball as well as other signed balls.
