The Scottsburg Warriors continued their season with their second regular season game, and their second straight conference match up at home.  They welcomed the visiting Pekin Easter Musketeers.  Both teams fought until the final buzzer, but the boys’ from Scottsburg came out with the win 69-58 on Tuesday, December 1.
Action began poorly for the Warriors as they opened the game with a missed lay-up. However, Eastern handed the ball right back in the next two possessions being called for two offensive fouls. Neither team scored for over two minutes until a Scottsburg three pointer broke the ice. The up and down game found the Warriors on a 9-3 run and gaining momentum. However, some hot shooting by the Musketeers kept them in the game as they trailed 15-10 at the end of the first.
The second period opened with more hot shooting from Eastern. They opened on a 6-0 run to take their first lead of the ball game. However, the Warriors took it right back on the very next possession. The game continued back and forth until Scottsburg gave themselves a little breathing room, opening up a six point lead. However, after several turnovers, the Warriors let Eastern back into the game. Thanks to poor free throw shooting by the Musketeers however, the Warriors found themselves up at the half 24-22.
Out of the locker room, the game continued as it was left off. The team played evenly for much of the beginning of the second half. The Warriors took advantage of several Musketeers mishaps and lengthened the lead to 31-24. Then back to back three pointers by the Warriors extended the lead to 13 points and force an Eastern timeout. Out of the time out, Eastern cut the lead to eight, but a 6-0 run by the Warriors took the lead back to the double digits. They led heading into the final quarter by a score of 47-36.
The fourth quarter was opened with a 6-1 run by the Warriors, and the game was all but over. Eastern refused to go quietly as they cut the lead to nine points twice. Despite these attempts at a comeback, the Warriors held them off for the 69-58 win.
Leading the way for the Warriors was Gregory with 22, Bridgewater 16 and Clemons 12. The Musketeers were led in scoring by Hensley 14, Doebler 11, Albertson 10 and Hurst 10.
